New England Revolution reveal new 2017 kits: used New England Patriots jerseys

The New England Revolution unveiled their long awaited 2017 kit design today, and instantly made waves by showcasing the uniquely New England design: some used Patriots jerseys that went unsold last season.

“We wanted the design to evoke the essence of the Revolution’s place in the New England sporting landscape,” explained Lexi Holtman, EVP of Marketing and Branding.  “Featuring a wide and ill-fitting cut reminiscent of a small crowd inside an enormous stadium, old-fashioned block numbers as a nod to a past where our team was relevant, and with the financially lucrative inclusion of players’ names who do not play for the Revolution, we felt this design said everything that needed to be said about our ownership’s direction for the franchise.”

Despite ownership enthusiasm for the new kits, player skepticism followed the announcement as four players found they would all be wearing identical Aaron Hernandez jerseys this year.
