Just A Good Old Fashioned Western Conference Preview

The annual Daves I Know MLS Western Conference Preview Podcast (luckily no Eastern Conference this year!)

The guys only kinda break down all 12 non-MNUFC teams in the Western Conference.

First Half [8:15]: Houston Dynamo, Sporting KC, Vancouver Whitecaps, Seattle Sounders, Colorado Rapids, Portland Timbers, & Real Sal Lake

Second Half [41:15]: FC Dallas, San Jose Earthquakes, Austin FC, LAFC, & LA Galaxy. We also answer a couple of questions and give our definitive Western Conference end-of-year standings!

Baked Goods & Bad Takes

It’s finally here, an actual match week! But before we get to that we welcome Dark Clouds Silent Auction winner KJ. The guys start with some MNUFC news [6:15] before diving into our Loons Preview [14:15]. Instead of the traditional preview, we play a game of Over Unders and answer a couple of big questions. We end the first half of the podcast with some MLS news [1:04:45], including (the good) the hiring of Lucy Rushton in DC and (the bad) Sebastian Lletget.

After the break we get to Better Know a KJ [1:21:08], break down the match against Seattle on Friday [1:42:07] and discuss the return of NWSL [1:54:41].

It’s a long one we know, but hey, a lot of shit happened in the last week!

Nine Subs, Let’s Fucking Go!

Lots o’ Loon’s news staring with the whole ticket debacle [8:25]. The guys also chat about MNUFC transactions including #FreeChacon and some draft signings. There is also a Sports Science signing and Heath spouting some bullshit! Ike News and we chat a little preseason stuff.

After the break, it’s MLS news [1:02:10] including some actual signings and some fantastical signings. We discuss the new Concussions sub rule [1:08:45] (spoiler alert, it’s good) and CCL Fever [1:17:00]

Finally, we discuss world soccer stuff, mostly UWCL, we avoided a TDIK Derby [1:21:20], and then a Dave absolutely dominates in our now semi-regular feature Guess A Loon [1:34:05].

Some Good Old Fashioned Group Therapy

We kick things off with A SCHEDULE! [5:20]. We give some very cursory thoughts on the Loons schedule before diving into some actual Loons news. We have a small Wanchope update (he’s currently, as of this writing in the air to the US) and an actual match to talk about (beating the shit out of the Battery). We end the Loons segment with a quick update on our Loons abroad.

MLS announced the new Leagues Cup [33:02] and USSF announced the shitty version of the US Open Cup!

After the break, we discuss a bit of good USMNT news and a lot of shitty USMNT news [39:53]. All in all a good bit of group therapy.

MJ debuts a new game [1:10:30] and we wrap up with both Forward Madison/MPLS City news, as well as a few bits of world Women’s soccer [1:14:30].

Dotson is Wanted for Murder

This was supposed to be a short one and then it kinda got away from us! The guys start out with MNUFC news [6:15]. Then the Ramón Ábila rumors are discussed, including currently evolving rumors [19:10].

After the break, there is a lot of USMNT discussion [42:04], including discussion of Hassani Dotson currently being wanted for the murder of a Dominican Right Back and how best for MNUFC to use Dotson this year [1:11:30], Spoiler Alert it gets weird.

Ft. Lauderdale is the New Jersey of Florida

The guys get together to discuss lots of MNUFC news [8:30], including some quotes Adrian Heath gave to Jerry Zgoda, the Juan Agudelo signing, the shitty Ike Opara news, and briefly discuss the preseason schedule.

After the break, it’s MLS news time [42:22]. They discuss the US Open Cup plan and schedules (Tinfoil Dan pops up to make an appearance), the Wilfs wanting to purchase Orlando City SC and the plan for Canadian teams in mostly Florida.

Finally, MJ surprises Zeller with a Very Special Better Know A Loon [1:03:00] and we wrap up with some MPLS City news [1:07:02].

Lights, Kamara, Action

Snatching a draw from the jaws of victory is classic Heath [5:17], the guys discuss the Jekyll and Hyde-ness of MNUFC and answer a couple of questions along with some choice words for our Freddy Adu’s [25:30].

Later they discuss if the style of MNUFC’s play is sustainable (spoiler alert: it’s probably not) and break out the Excuse-o-Meter for what excuses the team can use because the road vs home matches argument is getting stupid [47:35]

Finally, we discuss the roster moves [1:02:14], and briefly discuss our two-match week, at Columbus [1:22:40] & home vs RSL [1:34:24].

Au Revoir Chacon

The guys discuss a two-match week. We get the good and the bad starting with the Reynoso Party and a win over FC Dallas [2:41], then the less said the better about SK Covid [14:35]. We answer some questions [37:50], like are MNUFC good, what are MNUFC’s biggest needs, plus what the fuck is going on with Chacon! [1:07:38] Finally a very quick Houston preview, because why would MLS schedule us against a different team.
